The New York Times' Self-Published 'Best Book For Resume Writing' Has No Business Being PublishedYou might have read that the New York Times has announced its self-published 'Best Book For Resume Writing.' The publication was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek thing, of course. While it is true that the New York Times did publish an e-book on how to write resumes that was written by Michael Pietsch, the purpose was to give students and self-publishers a forum for sharing ideas on how to hire professionals for their resumes. These days, though, the kind of education that you get from going through one of these 'expert' seminars is much more difficult than the two hours that you would get from one of these seminars.While the New York Times' e-book was very educational in general, I think that it will end up being a liability for the job market in the near future. Because, when you're going to give your resume to someone who does not have any experience as a writer, what he or she sees on yo ur resume is the most important thing, in terms of whether you are able to land a job or not.It will also be a tremendous disadvantage if your resume is just not well-written, because people who do not have a background in writing and the ability to decipher and understand your resume will make a poor decision when it comes to hiring you. Your resume is not only your first chance at getting your name out there, but also at getting a job.In a way, the New York Times e-book would be better off if it had never been published. Because, what it actually did was to sell to people who have little or no experience with writing resumes. And, who, in turn, are not the best suited to help candidates with such a resume.The New York Times has now encouraged recent college graduates, who don't have any real experience with resumes, to put together their own, either through an e-book or, in some cases, through a consultation. The latter is even worse, because while they may have experience with re sumes, they won't have any idea about how to make them stand out, which is, after all, what this particular step is all about.There is also no reason to keep adding more education and help when the job market is already so tough. The job market is rough, but it is getting tougher. The types of jobs that are being advertised now are those that are looking for people with degrees, not people who have experience with resumes.If you want to get ahead in the job market, you need to start thinking about things like writing an impressive resume and knowing the current rules in the job market. It's not too late to do both, but if you are thinking about getting a free e-book on how to write resumes, then you should probably move on and look into the next opportunity.There are many resources available that can help you right now, and the Internet is one of them. Take advantage of these resources, get a free e-book, and use it to help you get ahead in the job market. You have a great degree, a nd you should be using it, instead of wasting it on a worthless course.
